Convective Discussion

The cool trough from yesterday continues to progress through Atlantic Canada. Looking at water vapour imagery, we can see that a shortwave has started interacting with some of the remnant baroclinicity in the area, allowing for a shallow low to develop over the southern Marine districts. However, due to the synoptic setup this low is being quickly cut off from upper level support while additional short waves with surface reflections are moving to interact with this low over the southern marine district. With these interactions and that there is building heights over Atlantic Canada the risk for thunderstorms will dissipate throughout the day.

With these rising heights and a dominant high over the region, there is no thunderstorms forecast for tonight nor tomorrow (Tuesday September 1, 2026).

Please note that this is the final scheduled outlook and discussion for the Atlantic Region this year. Subsequent updates will be issued on an as needed basis.
